Great Journeys Have Very Humble Beginnings
With guidance from the great oracles of the Fairy Realm, the prodding of friends and the trust and loyalty of a great number of fantastic customers, the journey has now lasted 13 years. The humbling experience that occurs when a customers face lights up and tears of joy well in her eyes as she looks at one of the fairy creations is more than enough for the journey to continue. At the Spring 2004 One of a Kind Show which is Canadas largest and most prestigious Art and Craft show at which many crafters aspire to exhibit their work, we were honoured by being inducted to The One of a Kind Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame recognizes artisans who excel at their craft and have been an integral part of the One of a Kind Show. This was a great honour and a truly humbling experience. This is an award that we are very proud of but an award that we could not have achieved without you, our customers and friends. We are so grateful for your loyalty, trust, kindness, friendship and help. So, our wish is that you share this honour with us and that a bit of the joy and pride will touch your heart as it has touched ours. |

The Queen's Cotillion![]() By Paolina Calabro The moist spring air and the smell of bluebells and fresh blooms signify the beginning of a new and enchanted season. It is time for the Fairy Queens Spring Cotillion where fairies from far and wide come together to celebrate the first party of the season. Every fairy is invited to this wondrous event that takes place at the first full moon after the bluebells bloom just as the sun sets over the Fairy Kingdom. One fairy in particular was very happy about the coming event. It was Annabelle and it would be her first cotillion. The moment she received an invitation from the Royal Flora Post all Annabelle could think about was what the Queen would think about her, what music would be played and what food would be served.
The evenings sunset was an image to be marvelled and the feast was filled with fairy delicacies of the spring such as root of silverweed and the milk from a red deer. The orchestras harps and flutes filled the air with the harmonious sounds of spring and the trumpets sounded for the entrance of the Fairy Queen and the Royal Family. The onlookers were in awe of the Fairy Queens alluring beauty as she walked to her throne in an exquisite gown of peacock feathers, flower petals and leaves and As the room buzzed with these joyous and glorious noises Annabelle entered the room and the subjects hushed and turned to stare as she fluttered down the stairs in her magnificent gown of exotic parrot feathers, snakeskin, and alder leaf straps. Her beauty amazed the crowd and as the orchestra began to play the Fairy Prince approached Annabelle and handed her a Cosmo signifying that he would like the next dance. As the final rays of sunset and the black night sky filled with stars the Fairy Prince and Annabelle were about to kiss when she realized that she would not soon forget this magical evening. |

| Mayas Quest By Dr. Win Mellor-Hay The fact that Maya was named after the Earth-Roman goddess of fertility did little to allay the burning shame she felt when the other young fairies teased her saying she was named for a ancient, dead, civilisation in Central America continent on Earth. She had looked "maya" up and found that it also derived from a primitive form of "mama" is some African cultures. A goddess of fertility, and a mother were highly respectable things to aspire to. But a dead Earth-culture? She stomped the ground angrily as she pounded up the mountain path. Everything seemed to be against her. There was so much pressure. Ever since she had turned sixteen, Madam Gale, the career counsellor at the Independent Fairy Academy (for fairies who were not born into a guild) had been badgering her to choose a direction. Maya snorted aloud, thinking of her "gifts." What gifts? she said under her breath. And her feet pounded heavily into the rock and dirt on the path. She possessed neither beauty nor grace. She was not musically-inclined, nor artistically-endowed. She stumbled and stuttered her way through a public speaking course. Her grammar was atrocious and her spelling was worse. Her brain couldnt work fast enough for mathematics. She couldnt sew; she couldnt cook; she had no eye for decorating; she hated gardening. She wasnt popular at the Academy. She had one friend, one very good friend, who was loyal and kind to her. But other than that: what did she have to offer? |
